The Bluffton Police Department in conjunction with the Pandora Police Department with assistance from Bluffton, Beaverdam and Pandora fire and EMS departments threw a party at the Bluffton Communtiy Swimming Pool on Aug. 4.

They called it “National Night Out.” The purpose of the annual event is to build strong partnerships between the police departments and the communities they serve. It served its purpose.

Last year’s event drew an estimated crowd of 500.

This year was different.

The unofficial tab included 1,500 hotdogs given away and a crowd estimated at close to 2,000 in attendance. A fireworks display capped the evening. Matt Ogleesbee of the Bluffton police chaired the event.
