Take a hike Saturday at 9 at Motter Metro Park
Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District wants you to take a Bluffton hike.
Your invitation is at 9 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 17, at Motter Metro Park, Columbus Grove Road, Bluffton.
“The hike starts at 9 a.m. last approximately 1 1⁄2 to 2 hours on easy to moderate terrain,” Bob Antibus of Bluffton and park district board member, said.
He added that the hikes are mostly geared as a way to get out and get exercise – but we always have naturalists along to answer questions. They usually last a one to one and a half hour, however folks can stay shorter or longer if they like.
The Motter hike is one of eight weekly hikes in the various parks in the system this fall. The hikes started in September. Following the hike in Bluffton, hikes are on Oct. 24 at Lippincott Bird Sanctuary and on Oct. 31 in Kendrick Woods.
Saturday’s hike is part of the park district’s 9th consecutive year of its Walking Thru Autumn series.
Each week, 50-70 participants meet for camaraderie and to explore some of the 27 miles of Metro Park trails.
Previous hikes in this series took place at McLean Teddy Bear Park, Ottawa Metro Park, Fort Amanda Park, Deep Cut and Heritage Park.
For more information contact the park district, 2355 Ada Road, Lima, or call 419-221-1232.
