Bluffton American Legion Post 382 ready for Veterans Day observance

Program in school and visits to area retirement communities

Bluffton American Legion Post 382 will observe Veterans Day in several ways next week, according to Dennis Morrison of the post.

The following programs are planned for Friday, Nov. 11.

Larry Core, Thom and Cheryl Craig will show fourth graders at Bluffton elementary how to properly fold the American flag during an 8 a.m. program.

Cheryl will tell what each fold of the flag represents. Then each student will be given a flag and taught how to fold it.

Post 382 will pay tribute to veterans  at the following locations on Nov. 11:
Hilty Home, Pandora, 9 a.m.
• Richland Manor, Beaverdam, 10 a.m.
• Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton, 1 p.m.
• Maple Crest, Bluffton 2:30 p.m.

Veterans Day is observed on Nov. 11, honoring persons who served in the United States armed forces.

It coincides with other holidays, including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, celebrated in other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I.

Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the armistice with Germany went into effect.
