Bluffton police have 394 calls for service in February
Bluffton police had 394 calls for service in February, including 18 reportable offenses and 7 traffic accidents, according to Sergeant Tyler Hochstetler of the department. The February report follows:
February 2
A West Elm Street resident reported a civil family issue to police.
February 5
Police cited Timothy L. Booth, 19, Toledo for possession of marijuana following a traffic stop for a stop sign violation in the 500 block of State Route 103. The case is pending in Findlay Municipal Court.
Police performed a civil standby while a subject removed her property from an East Elm Street residence.
February 6
Police responded to the area of Maple Grove Cemetery on Columbus Grove Bluffton Road in regards to a deer that had been struck by a vehicle. Upon locating the badly injured deer, an officer dispatched said deer causing it to expire.
A Grove Street resident reported that someone entered his garage during the overnight hours and stole numerous items.
February 7
Police arrested Devontae S. Blessett, 23, Lima, on an outstanding warrant issued by the Ohio State Highway Patrol – Findlay Post.
February 9
Police arrested Christian J. Lane, 20, Lima for driving under suspension following a traffic stop for an equipment violation in the 700 block of North Main Street. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.
A Riley Street resident reported someone used his identity to obtain a credit card which was used to purchase items at a Jackson, Michigan, grocery store.
February 11
Officers responded to a non-injury hit/skip traffic crash in the alley behind Ropp Hall at Bluffton University. There are no suspects at this time.
February 13
A university student reported items were stolen from his vehicle while it was parked on campus property.
Officers responded to a non-injury traffic crash in the 300 block of South Main Street. Barbara L. Spangler, 52, Leipsic, was issued a citation into Lima Municipal Court for improper starting and backing.
Officers responded to a non-injury traffic crash in the 300 block of South Main Street. Kevin A. Nickel, Bluffton, was issued a citation into Lima Municipal Court for failure to yield the right of way.
February 14
Police arrested Timmy Lee Bayes Jr, 21, Columbus Grove, for driving under suspension following a traffic stop for expired license plates in the 100 block of Cherry Street. Police also issued a citation to Wasim Mohamed Brahim, 24, Columbus Grove, for wrongful entrustment resulting from the same traffic stop.
February 15
Police responded to the Bluffton Hospital parking lot in reference to an ongoing issue with a suspicious person sitting in the parking lot.
February 17
Police arrested Adrianna Hoffer, 33, Bluffton, on an outstanding warrant issued by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.
Officers responded to the 9000 block of North Dixie Highway in reference to a traffic crash between a vehicle and an unknown animal. The driver was unsure of the exact location where the crash occurred.
February 18
Police arrested Mark R. Turner, 57, Celina, for OVI following a traffic stop for stopping in the roadway in the 100 block of East College Avenue. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.
A Vance Street business reported someone attempted to pass them a bad check.
Police responded to the elementary school where they contacted three juveniles climbing on the roof of the school. Officers released the juveniles to their parents.
February 19
Officers received a complaint of a juvenile vandalizing the Buckeye park property with spray paint. The case was forwarded to the Allen County Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office for review of charges.
Officers responded to a non-injury hit/skip traffic crash in the area of County Line Road and State Route 103. There are no suspects at this time.
February 22
Officers arrested Nicoya S. Darby, 29, Lima, for driving under suspension following a traffic stop for window tint in the 500 block of North Main Street.
February 25
Officers responded to the 100 block of North Main Street in reference to a non-injury traffic crash. John Marshall, 65, Bluffton, was issued a citation into Lima Municipal Court for failing to yield the right of way.
Officers responded to the intersection of South Main Street and Grove Road in reference to a non-injury traffic crash. Mary L. Bishop, 61, Commercial Point, Ohio, was issued a citation into Lima Municipal Court for failing to obey a traffic control device.
February 27
A Cherry Street resident reported that someone shot his cat. The feline had to be taken to a veterinarian’s office for medical treatment. The case is still under investigation.
