Rosalie Rakosky, 1920 -2017
Rosalie Rakosky, 97, died at Norwalk Memorial Home in Norwalk on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017.
Born April 23, 1920, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Harry and Alice (nee Kathary) Barnes. She graduated from Bluffton High School in 1938 and attended Bluffton College for 2 years and North Western School of Commerce for 1 year.
She lived in Columbus, Medina, Bluffton, Kenton, Norwalk and New London. Rosalie worked at Bixel Motor Sales in Bluffton, Triplett Electrical Instrument Company for 5 years during WWII, a substitute teacher in Huron County schools in the 1960s, she also sold Avon Products for 35 years. She worked at the Horseshoe Bar, a cook at Gaymont Nursing Home for 8 years, Shields IGA in Norwalk and then retired as a homemaker.
Rosalie was a member of the Norwalk VFW and Eagles auxiliary. She was also a member of the Norwalk United Methodist Church, Maple City Mothers Club, Town and Country Garden Club, past president of Council Garden Club of Norwalk and the former DeMolay Mothers Club of Norwalk.
Survivors include her children, Keith (Debbie) Rakosky of Sevierville, Tenn,, Arden (Pamela) Rakosky of Blair, Neb., Wendell (Terry) Rakosky of Ellicott City, Md., and Lynden (Mary Spade) Rakosky of Crestline; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Gail Rakosky and her twin sister, Rosemary Joan Barnes.
Relatives and friends are welcome at Eastman Funeral Home in New London Friday, Dec. 8, from 6-8 pm. Services will be held at the funeral home Saturday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Brian Oglesbee officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Bluffton.
