Girls' bball: Pirates bury Ada 61-26
Bluffton’s full court pressure fueled two huge first half runs enabling the Pirates to coast to a 61-26 victory in the opening Northwest Conference game for both teams. BHS scored 11 straight points in the first quarter to take a 13-2 lead and followed it up with an 18-0 burst early in the second quarter to push the lead out to 36-12. Bluffton’s press defense forced 13 first half turnovers as BHS went to the locker room with a 36-15 advantage.
Alivia Koenig’s first ‘3’ of the night kicked off the first 11-0 run. Libby Schaadt, Averey Rumer and another Koenig long ball pushed the lead to 13-2. More balanced scoring aided the 18-0 run as BHS got buckets from Schaadt, Katie Prater, Rumer, Koenig and Kayla White. Even as Bluffton scaled back their full court pressure, the Pirates were active defensively leading to easy buckets. Ada scored just 3 points in the second quarter.
