Blanchard Valley Health System receives health care’s most wired award

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) received Health Care’s Most Wired award for 2017. This award is presented by the American Hospital Association (AHA) to hospitals that use technology to improve patient reach methods, provide easier access to care and operate exceptional patient portal systems. BVHS achieved these technological advances through the use of the MyHealth Patient Portal and Cerner.

MyHealth Patient Portal allows patients to access their medical records, test results and medication instructions as well as request appointments and prescription refills online. This program is utilized in all departments at BVHS for consistency and patient convenience. Cerner is the internal computer platform used across all departments to easily communicate throughout the health system.

A survey of Most Wired Hospitals conducted by AHA highlights BVHS as part of the majority that use sophisticated technology to detect patient privacy breeches and perform data access audits. Additionally, BVHS exercises innovative methods to record patient health information while simultaneously providing patients with access to a variety of online health care services.

“Blanchard Valley Health System is proud to have earned this award and is committed to making it easier for patients and providers to interact through technology,” said John Fenton, director of information services.
