Hornet girls edge Pirates in nail-biter

RAWSON - The visiting Bluffton girls soccer team dropped a 2-1 nailbiter at local rival Cory-Rawson Thursday evening.
The Lady Pirates dropped to 8-5-1 with the tight non-league defeat.
C-R's Zoe Chisholm put the hosts ahead at halftime 1-0 with a goal in the 20th minute.
Hornet Paige McVetta extended the lead to 2-0 with a score four minutes into the second half.
Pirate Olivia Matthews tallied the lone Bluffton goal with under two minutes left to play.
Bluffton put eight of its 13 shots on goal. C-R aimed five of its nine shots on target.
Cory made seven saves to five by the Pirates.
Bluffton (3-1 NWC) visits league foe Crestview (6-4-2, 2-2-1 NWC) Monday, October 7 at 5 p.m.
