GROB to the library rescue
GROB Systems to the rescue.
Thanks for volunteer efforts of the local manufacturer, Bluffton Public Library will have a customized plexiglass and aluminum unit providing over 20 feet of protection around the library’s main floor front desk area when it eventually reopens to the public.
Here’s how it all came together:
The library contacted Brian Schroeder of GROB when it was determined that the structure of the front desk would require a frame to anchor plexiglass partitions.
GROB’s Vanias Carnauba then visited the library to plan the construction of the frame, and surprised library director, Jessica Hermiller, telling her the unit would be a donation from GROB to the library.
Hermiller said, “Bluffton, is a gracious community, and GROB has just proved that further. We are exceedingly thankful for their support and expertise.”
The gift provides an essential addition to library’s phases of safe services. It will allow for secure interactions between staff and patrons during this pandemic.
When the library reopens, staff may scan library cards through the transparent partition and hand library materials to patrons through a pass-through slot.
The addition of the frame for the front desk is one of many changes underway to the main floor as the library prepares for new services to the community.
Hermiller told the Icon that patrons should stay tuned for an announcement and information regarding the library’s future reopening plans.
“The staff and board of trustees of Bluffton Public Library wish to express their heartfelt appreciation to GROB Systems for their craftsmanship, installation and donation of a protective shield unit for the library’s front desk,” said Hermiller.
