There's still time to enter BCE's 2014 Ropp Triplett Business Plan Competition; $6,000 in business start up prize money awarded

Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs has announced prize money and seminar dates its Ropp Triplett Business Plan Competition.

First place prize is $5,000 in business start-up costs and a one-year BCE client program membership. Second place is $1,000 in start-up costs and a one-year BCE client program membership. Third place is a one-year BCE client program membership.

This is BCE’s fifth business plan competition and it recognizes the late Ropp Triplett, long-time Bluffton industrial leader and entrepreneur.

Subzero temps force residents to get creative

It seems like Mother Nature missed Christmas by just a few weeks. Thermometers are registering subzero temperatures and strong winds are producing dangerous wind chill of minus 40. But despite the fact that “the weather outside is frightful,” comments posted on Facebook suggested that few local residents minded staying inside.

More fire and ice

Here are more photos of the Beaverdam-Richland Township fire department responding to a Cairo house fire on Monday. The fireman and EMTs were on scene from approximately 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The department squad vehicle was used  to thaw the men out as they were covered in ice. Bluffton Soccer Club registration starts in late January - registration forms on The Icon

The weather outside may be frightful, but it's time to start thinking about Bluffton soccer.

Open registration for youth wanting to play in the Bluffton Soccer Club takes place at the Bluffton middle school from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, and Thursday, Jan. 30, Registrations with payment is due on Saturday, Feb. 1.
