Pirates out slug Lima Central Catholic 10-5

LIMA - The visiting Bluffton softball team upset Lima Central Catholic 10-5 in a non-league contest Thursday evening.
The Lady Pirates improved to 6-12 with their second straight win.
The Pirate girls scored one or two runs in six of the seven innings, plating at least once in every frame except the second.
Bluffton pushed across single runs in the first and seventh innings. The Pirate girls also scored twice in each of the third, fourth, fifth and sixth frames to extend the lead to 9-3.
The Pirates never trailed after jumping to a 3-0 lead heading to the bottom of the third. LCC edged within 3-2 after three frames, but never got closer then four runs after the fourth.
Pirate hurler Grace Myers won her fourth game this spring by scattering 11 hits over seven innings.
Bluffton's Kennedy Jordan knocked in two runs with a pair of hits. Sophie Bricker also collected two hits and two RBI. Lauren Swartzlander contributed two hits and one run batted in.
Riley Busch stroked an RBI hit, while Rebekah Hoff added two hits. Ashley Fleece smacked an RBI double, and Dyllan Worcester added one hit.
Each teams collected 11 base hits. Bluffton committed five errors, while LCC was guilty of three miscues.
Losing pitcher Jaylen Roehm hit a triple, singled and drove in one run. Thunderbird Madeline Quatman had two hits, while Anna Badea contributed two hits and an RBI. Abby Watkins added a single.

The Pirate girls (2-5 NWC) will make up Monday's postponed league bout vs. backyard rival Allen East (11-8, 2-3 NWC) Friday, May 7.
