Bluffton boys CC 3rd at Grove Invitational

The Bluffton cross country teams competed at the Columbus Grove Invitational Saturday morning, September 4.

BOYS COMPETITION

Botkins won the boys 18-team Red Division team title with 48 points. Lincolnview was second (69), followed by Bluffton in a solid third-place showing (155).

Junior Landon Armstrong posted the top Pirate finish. He came in fifth among 104 runners in 17 minutes.

Bluffton junior Sam Derstine finished 25th, and senior Trey Boblitt ended up 30th. Rounding out the Pirate scorers were Jonah Rehm (44th) and John Yoder (51st).

GIRLS COMPETITION

Botkins also won the girls team crown with 29 points. Bluffton finished fifth (126) out of 15 teams represented. Eight schools did not have enough runners for a team score.

Pirate freshman June Essinger finished eighth in the 80-runner girls field with a time of 21:13.95 to lead the Bluffton girls.
