Bluffton senior awarded full graduate scholarship
Madison Brunswick, a senior from St. Henry, Ohio, is Bluffton University’s 10th recipient of a full scholarship to Bowling Green State University’s Master of Accountancy program.
Brunswick earned the Beaver-Falcon MAcc Scholarship, a Bluffton-Bowling Green partnership that includes a full-tuition award plus a paid graduate assistantship for a Bluffton graduate.
Bowling Green’s program includes a variety of areas of study such as advanced accounting, data analytics and information systems auditing. The program allows students to build upon the strong foundation of the Bluffton accounting major while gaining expertise in new areas.
Brunswick will begin her advanced studies in fall 2022. Completion of the master’s program will give her the 150 hours of study required to sit for the Certified Public Accountant exam.
“I’m very excited and grateful for this opportunity. I have been able to grow through so many opportunities at Bluffton and during my internships,” said Brunswick. “This scholarship will allow me to continue to grow and explore other paths of accounting and to sit for the CPA exam.”
Brunswick is an accounting and business administration double major who is active on campus as a member of the Student Investment Club and Sustainability Club. She completed internships at Crown Equipment Corporation in New Bremen, Ohio, and Emerson Climate Technologies in Sidney, Ohio.
“Madison has been a solid contributor to the Bluffton University accounting program. Through her internships at Crown and Emerson, Madison has been able to apply classroom knowledge to her professional portfolio. In addition, Madison has enriched Bluffton’s Accounting program by bringing her valuable internship experience to the classroom,” said Jason Swartzlander, professor of accounting. “We congratulate Madison on this well-deserved honor and look forward to her success in the BGSU MAcc program and beyond.”
