Bassitt advances in World Championships 400m hurdles
UPDATE: Bassitt placed second in one of three semi-final heats on July 17 to advance to the July 19 finals of the Men's 400m hurdles at the World Athletics Championships.
EUGENE, Oregon⎯On July 17, Bluffton High School graduate Trevor Bassitt will compete in the Men's 400m hurdles semi-finals on Day 3 of the World Athletics Championships,
He will race in the second of three heats, which begin at 9:03 p.m. ET The first two finishers of each heat plus the two fastest times advance to the finals on
In the July 16 heats, Bassitt ran 49.17, qualifying with 12 other athletes.
With a June 26 result of 47.47 Bassitt is listed as third in the 2022 Outdoor Top List behind Alison Dos Santos (Brazil, 46.80) and Rai Benjamin (USA, 47.04). Olympic gold-medalist Karsten Warhold, who also advances to the semi-finals, completed his first race of 2022 in Saturday's heats.
