Local scout demonstrates how to earn Journey Summit Award

Charlotte Kidd, a 12 year-old Girl Scout from Bluffton, recently earned the Journey Summit Award Pin as a Junior in Girls Scouts. The pin is one of the highest awards a Girl Scout Junior can earn. It is earned by girls who have completed three National Leadership Journeys.

Charlotte completed the Get Moving!, aMUSE, and Agents of Change Journeys:

  • The Get Moving! Journey explored energy usage and involved conducting an energy audit of a building and exploring ways to promote energy conservation.
  • The aMUSE Journey involved exploring the roles a person plays in their life and working on ways to break down stereotypes.
  • The Agents of Change Journey introduced powerful women throughout history, how individuals can work together to create a powerful team, and how those teams can create meaningful change in a community.

Along the way, Charlotte earned twenty-five additional badges in areas of art, life skills, science and the environment, financial literacy and entrepreneurship, outdoor activities, and citizenship. She also earned the Junior Safety Award and Cookie Entrepreneur pins.

Charlotte is most proud of the Take Action project she completed as part of the Agents of Change Journey.  She created 30 kits containing feminine hygiene supplies and gave them to the Bluffton school nurse for distribution.

Charlotte joined Girls Scouts as a Daisy in 2017 and recently bridged to the level of Cadette. Her Troop Leader is Kelly Honse.
