Beaver sports recap for November 28-29

Women’s basketball, November 28
CINCINNATI–The Bluffton University women's basketball team kicked off Heartland Conference action with a 73-63 win at Mount St. Joseph on Monday, November 28.

Bluffton stayed perfect at 4-0 and 1-0 in the conference, while the Lions fell to 1-3 and 0-1 in the HCAC.

Bluffton hit 26-of-67 (38.8 percent) from the field and limited MSJ to 16-for-60 (26.7 percent). The Lions made hay at the line, draining 26-of-34 for 76.5 percent on their freebies. Bluffton pulled down five more rebounds (47-42) and the Beavers forced MSJ into a whopping 30 turnovers.

Next up for the women is a battle with Hanover College. The Panthers will invade the Sommer Center on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. as part of a women's and men's Heartland Conference doubleheader. 

Men’s basketball, November 29
The Bluffton University men's basketball team picked a great night to put its first result in the win column, downing Mount St. Joseph in the Heartland Conference lidlifter for both teams on Wednesday.. Bluffton improved to 1-4 and 1-0 in the HCAC, while MSJ fell to 1-4 and 0-1 in the conference.

Bluffton hit 20-of-45 (44.4 percent) from the field, including a red-hot 6-for-13 (46.2 percent) outside the arc. The Beavers were nearly perfect at the line, drilling 11-of-12 (91.7 percent). Both teams pulled down 27 rebounds and MSJ turned it over one more time (13-12). Bluffton finished with a 22-14 edge in paint points.
