Pirate boys and girls 2nd at NWC title meet

DELPHOS – The Bluffton High School track and field teams competed well at the annual nine-team Northwest Conference championship meet Thursday and Saturday, May 11 and 13, in Delphos.
Bluffton took home six individual first-place finishes, and also won three relay events.
Columbus Grove captured the boys and girls league crowns, while Bluffton took second in both team standings.
Seniors Landon Armstrong and Sam Derstine finished one-two in the boys 800-meter run to post the top Pirate finish.
Senior Eden Antrim also crossed the line first in the boys 1600 meters.
Junior Kyle Basil took first in the high jump, while senior Brianna Taber won the pole vault.
Sophomore Sadie Tarplee captured the girls high jump crown. Sophomore Carson Kruse came home first in the 300-meter hurdles.
The Pirate boys took first in the 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relay races. The Bluffton girls foursome also won the 4 x 800 relay event.
