Summary of May 2023 Board of Education meeting

The Bluffton Exempted Village Schools Board Of Education held a Regular Meeting in the Elementary Library at 7:30 p.m. on May 15, 2023. All board members--Larry Hoffman, Roni Kaufman, Wes Klinger, Jeremy Scoles and Brad Dailey--were present. Eight members of the public were present.

All items requiring the approval of the board were passed unanimously.

TREASURER
The April 30, 2023 treasurer's financial and investment reports were approved as submitted. Treasurer Paula Parish also presented the Five Year Forecast - Revision for Fiscal Years 2023-2027. She noted that the 5-year forecast uses the projected estimates from the governor; we will not know final numbers until June.

BLUFFTON PUBLIC LIBRARY BUDGET HEARING
The Board set June 27, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. as the date for the Budget Hearing for the Bluffton Public Library. 

AGREEMENTS
The board approved agreements for Assistive Technology with the Auglaize County Educational Service Center and an Allen County ESC Service Agreement (2023-2024) including School Psychologist, School Psychologist Assistant, Special Education Supervisor, Speech Therapist, Alternative Program Autism Classroom, ED Classroom, M.D. Classroom, Preschool Handicapped Classroom, Itinerant, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy.

The board also approved a school district insurance plan and participation agreement with Fawcett, Lammon, Recker & Associates Insurance Agency, Inc. as agent. Superintendent Greg Denecker noted that there are 100 districts in this consortium and that BEVS has used this service for 15 years with steady rates.

CONTRACTS, ASSIGNMENTS, RESIGNATIONS & ETC.
The board approved the hiring of certified employees Diana Donaldson - Teacher, Jake Staley - Teacher, Scott Shnipke - Teacher and Leslie Liberato - Teacher.

The board also approved substitute teachers, substitute educational aides, substitute custodians and weight room supervisors.

APPROVAL OF GRADUATES: 
The board approved 91 members of the senior class to be issued diplomas. (P. 5 of attachment)
