UPDATED OVI Checkpoint on SR 309 on June 23
LIMA–The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced that an OVI checkpoint will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on June 23 on State Route 309 near mile post 17, in Allen County.
The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.
The checkpoint will also be held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to aggressively combat impaired driver-related injury and fatal crashes.
"There were over 11,800 OVI-related crashes in which 726 people were killed last year in Ohio," said Lieutenant Alec P. Coil, Lima Post commander. "In 2022, troopers made more than 15,000 OVI arrests in an attempt to combat these dangerous drivers. OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving, but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways."
