LIMA__October is nationally recognized as “Domestic Violence Awareness Month” (DVAM). Crossroads Crisis Center serves as Allen County's only domestic violence agency, and we will be promoting awareness with several displays and events throughout October.

All of the libraries in Allen County will have DVAM displays that will contain information on domestic violence and the different events that Crossroads will be holding.

Trees in the Town Square will be decorated with purple ribbons for the entirety of October to spread awareness.

The silhouette, commonly referred to as "Traveling Tracy", will be traveling to different locations throughout Lima including: The Grind, The Title Department, Allen County Health Department and many more locations.

Crossroads will be holding their Purple Sweets in Lima again. Local bakeries, sweet shops, and drink shops will be making something purple to sell for domestic violence awareness.

Weekend Doctor: Wellness checks

By Ashley O’Flaherty, CMA
Supervisor, Blanchard Valley Medical Practices

It is important to have an annual wellness exam to maintain your overall health and to discuss preventative services you may need based on your age and condition. A wellness exam is important for both your mental and physical health and will help you reach your health goals.

A lot can change in a year, so it is essential your healthcare provider has your medical records up to date. This is also a good time for you to reconnect with your provider and the provider to reconnect with you.

Many screenings and assessments are available to ensure you are getting the most current, up-to-date knowledge of your health. Certain screenings can help identify underlying conditions where symptoms may never be present. This is important for not only you but those who may care for and manage your needs.

Bluffton University first-year and graduate numbers are on the rise

Bluffton University is seeing gains in areas such as out-of-state enrollment and graduate enrollment. The number of full-time students enrolled at Bluffton, including both undergraduate and graduate programs, is 664.

“Most higher education institutions are starting to see the effects of the ‘enrollment cliff’ that is predicted to be at its highest in 2025,” said Robin Bowlus, vice president of advancement and enrollment management. “I am glad to say despite this dip, Bluffton’s total enrollment has remained steady, with increases in many areas.”
