Pirate volleyball falls to Shawnee

Playing at home, the Bluffton volleyball team lost to Shawnee in four tough sets Monday, August 19.

The Pirates won the first set 25-18, but then lost the final three close games 26-24, 25-20 and 27-25 to the Indian girls.

The defeat dropped the Pirate record to 1-1.

Ayla Grandey led Bluffton with 13 kills. Libby Hocanson and Karlie Lora knocked down nine kills apiece to aid the offensive attack. Lora contributed two blocks. Gracie Yarnell passed out 31 assists and came up with 15 digs. Avery Talavinia led the defense with 18 digs, while Garcie Warren added 10 digs.

The Pirate girls took the JV match 2-0, and also won the freshman bout in
straight sets.

Bluffton visits Pandora-Gilboa August 20 in a non-league match.
