Pirate golfers drop dual

The Bluffton High School varsity boys golf team lost a dual match to visiting Blanchard Valley Conference foe Leipsic at the Bluffton Golf Club on August 21.

The Vikings won by 17 strokes, 172-189.

Pirate Evan Speicher finished third among the 12 golfers to post the top Bluffton showing, shooting a 43.

Pirate Ethan Fifer came in fifth with a score of 47. Bluffton’s Nick Lovett was eighth with a nine-hole round of 49.

Grady Coonfare was the fourth Pirate scorer with a total of 50. 

Coby Dailey registered a round of 57. Gibson Myer added a 63.

Leipsic ace Brevin Brandt was match medalist after posting a low round of 38.

Viking Reagan Wenzinger finished second by carding a 41.

Bath also won a three-team junior varsity match at Bluffton Wednesday. They shot 208, followed by the Pirate reserves (226) and Leipsic (238). 

The Pirates (2-0 NWC) visit Delphos Jefferson (0-5) in a Northwest Conference tri-match with LCC (0-3 NWC) Monday, August 26.
