Terry Lynn Marshall served in the U.S. Navy
Terry Marshall was born June 2, 1942 and raised in Bluffton, Ohio. The oldest of five children, he would go on to become a leader in all aspects of his life. He became an Eagle Scout, high school senior class president, track star in both Bluffton High and Bluffton College and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy.
In the Navy, he would go on to serve aboard the US Intrepid (CVA-11), the Fighting "I" as she was affectionately called by her crew, which is currently berthed in New York Harbor. Terry's naval career saw him travel the globe to ports of call both fabled and unexplored. Vietnam, Hong Kong, Antarctica, Naples, Brooklyn, Bridgeport, Norfolk and most in between.
He was a devout family man, married to his wife Pamela for 52 years. He had two sons, Troy and Brandon, and regularly attended their various sports endeavors, cheering them on in his thunderous voice. He would go on to coach his son Brandon's Pop Warner football team. You could tell which coach he was from a distance as he was the only coach actively participating in all drills. He led by example as often as explanation. He was an avid tennis player and "jock" and competitive as hell. He enjoyed games of all kinds and had a curious mind for puzzles and gadgets.
Terry was also a devout Christian and church going man. His love and passion for the Lord was evident to all in the Bible studies he led and attended, as well as the frequent church services he and his wife Pam enjoyed every Sunday, except Wimbledon Sunday, the only pagan holiday Terry observed.
He joined his Lord in Heaven on September 1, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife Pam, their two sons, Troy (Susan) and Brandon (Jennifer), two sisters, Sue and Linda, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kimmel and Maxine Marshall, and two brothers, Larry and Bruce. To say that he will be missed is an understatement of the highest order.
