"Gingerbread Squad" earns $1,500 for Bluffton Elementary
Combs, Steiner and Dunlap step it up in Health Action Council challenge
The Gingerbread Squad of Jaime Combs, Heidi Steiner and Ryan Dunlap from Bluffton Elementary School earned first place in the Health Action Council Healthy Fall Spring Step It Up Challenge and won $1,500 for their school.
The trio averaged 816,441 steps in the challenge, which is a national no-cost, four-week step program that promotes overall health and well-being for schools and the community. School administrators, educators, and parents stepped to model healthy habits, show leadership, and win money.
The challenge attracted 364 participants from 46 teams, achieving a collective step goal, and having over 86,585,880 total steps, which unlocked a $500 donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Upper Midwest.
10/22: Ryan Dunlap from Bluffton Elementary School won a $25 Cabela’s gift card for submitting his heart health numbers in the challenge chat.
