Bluffton Lions update for November 2024

The Bluffton Lions will install four new members in February 2025: Laura Dagani, Brigette Hoff, Scott Hoff and Renee Matthews. The next Lions Club meeting is January 7.

LEO CLUB
Lion Natalie Armstrong is starting a Leo Club.

ALL-INCLUSIVE BLUFFTON LIONS PLAYGROUND
The Bluffton Lions are planning to build an all-Inclusive playground at the new Village park being developed on the north side of Snider Rd. Lion Barbara Plaugher showed a power-point on a LCIF (Lions Club International Foundation) matching grant of up to $150K.

PEACE POSTER COMPETITION
Three Peace Poster winners and their teacher provided information on their art projects. This is a world-wide project for students ages 11 through 13.

The theme this year was “Peace Without Limits”. For 30 years clubs around the world have been sponsoring an art contest in schools and youth groups. Creating peace posters gives children the chance to express their vision of peace. ▶︎

1st place winner: Emery Thiel – parents Ben and Sarah Thiel. Thiel has won the District 13 OH1 contest and will now have her poster judged in the state competition.
Runner-up: Clair Snyder – parents Mindy Gerken and Dan Snyder;
Runner-up: Easton Dunifon – parents Joel and Nikki Dunifon.

MOTTER METRO PARK
Johnny Appleseed Metro Park District board member Bob Antibus discussed the Motter Metro Park in Bluffton. This area was planted in prairie grasses to restore more native grassland habitat. The Little Riley Creek runs through the property, providing habitat for wetland and water species of plants and animals. A gazebo was recently added and a wildlife observation deck and wetland mitigation project will be added.

CHARITY RAFFLE
$200 in charity raffle prizes were awarded.

COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Jamie Lovell from the Bluffton Community Assistance Program spoke to the club on the needs of the food pantry. Members contributed food supplies for our service project.
