Pirate boys golf 2nd at own Invite; Lovett medalist

LIMA __The Bluffton High School boys golf team finished a strong second at the 14-team Bluffton Pirate invitational tournament on Lima’s Hidden Creek Golf Course on Monday, August 11.
Pirate Nick Lovett sizzled on the hot day, earning tournament medalist honors with a low round of 34-36=70. Teammate Grady Coonfare finished in a four-way tie for eighth place with a strong round of 38-41=79.

Ethan Fifer shot a 42-39=81 round. Coby Dailey was the fourth Pirate score after posting a round of 42-43=85.
Owen Brauen registered a 44-49=93, and Gibson Meyer added a 49-48=97.
Liberty-Benton won the event with 312 strokes, just three shots ahead of second-place Bluffton (315). Wapakoneta finished third at 334, followed by Bath (336), Tiffin Calvert (341), Riverdale (347) and Ridgemont (350).
Van Buren came in eighth (363), followed closely by Bellefontaine (364), Arcadia (367) and Maumee Valley Country Day (369).
McComb ended up 12th (385), Arlington was 13th (391) and Ada came in last (396).
L-B posted top rounds of 75, 76 and 80 to grab third, fourth and 11th individually.
The Pirates are slated to host Carey and Liberty Center Tuesday, August 12.
