Senior citizen breakfast at the Bluffton middle school are set for the 2011-12 school year, according to Greg Denecker, superintendent. The breakfasts begin at 8:30 a.m. in the middle school cafetorium with the following schedule and student entertainers:

Sept. 14 - Marching band
Oct. 19 - Show choir
Nov. 9 - Drama Club
Dec. 14 - Concert choir
Jan. 11 - Strings
Feb. 8 - Ladies First Choir
March 7 - Concert band
April 11 - High school musical
May 9 - Jazz band

A discussion of Abraham Verghese's book "Cutting for Stone" will take place in the family room of Maple Crest Senior Living Village on Monday, Sept. 26, at 2:30 p.m.

Copies of the book are available at Bluffton Public Library, 145 S. Main St., Bluffton. Maple Crest Senior Living Village is located at 700 Maple Crest Ct., Bluffton.

Beginning Monday, Sept. 12, storytime for preschoolers ages 3-5 will be held at the Bluffton Public Library on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesdays at 10 a.m.

Themes this fall include apples, scarecrows, Halloween and Thanksgiving. Storytime will also celebrate National Honey Month in September and Young Reader's Day on Nov. 8.

Each storytime session is approximately 35-40 minutes long and includes stories, songs, fingerplays and other related activities. Parents or caregivers must register their child at the library's circulation desk.

Bluffton's next American Red Cross blood drive is from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 16, in the Bluffton High School new gymnasium.

Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in Ohio), meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on their height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.

ABC of Hancock County, the Alliance for Breast and Colon Cancer Awareness, Screening and Prevention, is holding a free event for the public called Eat, Drink and Be Healthy on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Family Center, 1800 N. Blanchard Street, Findlay.

The event will provide attendees with information about breast and colon cancer screening, as well as resources on how to receive free screenings for those who qualify. Free lunch will be provided by Texas Roadhouse.
