The now famous "deer walks into a bar" story with a Bluffton, Ohio, date line - yes, you saw it first on The Bluffton Icon - has captured worldwide fame.

Steve Harnish provided The Icon with the following links. This demonstrates how quickly a local story travels in the digital era. It all started on The Icon on Friday, Nov. 5, at 3:30 p.m. Here's how the story traveled in seven days.

The Friends of the Bluffton Public Library will hold their next regular meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30. The meeting will take place in the Richland Room, which is on the library's lower level. The Friends will not meet on the fourth Tuesday of November, which is an exception the group's usual schedule.

The Friends of the Bluffton Public Library encourage everyone who uses the library to make a donation and to share their time, energy, and ideas. You can join the Friends by making an annual donation of $5 or more.

Imajean Mathewson

Imajean I. Mathewson, 78 of Bluffton died at 6:40 p.m. Nov. 11, 2010, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. She was born July 8, 1932 in Putnam County, Ohio to Albert and Loretta (Okuley) Klass.

On June 30, 1951, she married Larry Mathewson and he survives.

She was currently working for the Bluffton schools where over the years she had held numerous positions.

Bluffton Public library is exhibiting Oscar Velasquez's 2010 Bluffton winter scene print featuring the Bluffton Public Library. Velasquez will donate one of the prints on display to the library for all to enjoy year round.

Velasquez will be at Deer Creek Shoppes on the day of the Blaze of Lights to sign copies of the prints from 3 to 8 p.m.

Grace Mennonite, Pandora, will hold its annual book sale on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 3-4, at the church. Jilaine Graber of Faith and Life Books and Gifts, Berne, Ind., will bring an array of books, CDs, devotionals and many other items to sell.

The event hours are 6:30 to 9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 3, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 4. This year the profit earned from the book sale will be used to purchase books for The Lion and Lamb Peace and Arts Center at Bluffton University.
