Planning to vote on Tuesday, May 3? Village residents have polling places at 601 N. Main St.
Two local issues are on Bluffton ballots for the May 3 election: an income tax renewal for the Bluffton Exempted Village School District and--for Precinct B voters only--a liquor sales option for the 1861 Wine Lounge to be located at 115 N. Main St., Bluffton.
The Bluffton University baseball team avenged a pair of Sunday losses to Albion with a convincing 5-2 win on the Britons playing field on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. Bluffton improved to 16-18 on the season, while Albion fell to 13-20.
It was two different stories when Bluffton welcomed long-time rival Defiance College for a doubleheader on a cold and windy Wednesday, April 27. Bluffton shut down DC 3-1 in the lidlifter before the Yellow Jackets turned the tables with a 20-5 rout in game two. The Beavers moved to 13-21 overall and 5-9 in the Heartland Conference.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife reminds residents of Northwest Ohio that public lakes and reservoirs teem with fish such as yellow perch and largemouth bass.
In this area, the ODNR highlights yellow perch in Allen County's Williams Reservoir. The organization notes: this reservoir was opened in 2012 and offers good numbers of large perch, some longer than 13 inches. If fishing from a boat, start along the north or south shore where the old haul roads are still in place. Shoreline fishing in the spring and fall can be productive.
The Swiss Community Historical Society is pleased to announce that scheduled tours will resume from May through fall of 2022. The Swiss Homestead, also known as the Schumacher House, offers a glimpse into the lives of Swiss immigrants in portions of Allen and Putnam counties known as the Settlement, during the mid-19th century. The house is located at 8350 Bixel Rd, Bluffton.
Visitors may tour the house, summer kitchen, and workshop—which are furnished with original and period items—as well as the kitchen garden. Access to the barn may be restricted due to construction activity.
