March 2023 field reports from the Ohio Division of Wildlife

Northwest Ohio – Wildlife District Two 
During the 2022 white-tailed deer archery hunting season, State Wildlife Officer Michele Butler, assigned to Erie County, responded to a call from the TIP (Turn-In-A-Poacher) hotline. A deer hunter reported seeing several hunters trespassing on a neighboring property. Officer Butler found a blood trail and tracks that led to a neighboring residence. Officer Butler spoke to the owner of the residence and determined that a buck had recently been harvested but the hunter had not game checked the deer and had retrieved it from the neighboring property without permission.

I spy: Details on the Town Hall clock

On a clear day with a zoom lens, the Icon spied details on the Town Hall clock tower including the rivets on the Roman numerals, the goose neck lights that illuminate the clock faces at night, a white second hand and a little door to give access to all of the above.

State-wide tornado drill

Adam Burris will coach BHS girls basketball in 2023-2024

On Monday March 20, 2023 the Bluffton Board of Education officially hired Adam Burris as the new Bluffton High School Varsity Girls Basketball Coach.

Coach Burris is replacing Eric Garmatter. He played basketball for, and graduated from, both Bluffton High School and Bluffton University.

Coach Burris brings thirteen years of  coaching experience with seven of those years as a Varsity Head Coach. He coached Varsity Girls and Boys at North Baltimore and Varsity Boys at Bath.

Athletic Directo Alex Hanna comments, "We look forward to working with Coach Burris and welcome him back to Bluffton."

Bluffton law enforcement alerts show suspect apprehended on March 21

On Tue, March 21, the Bluffton Police Department issued two Nixle alerts:

9:38 PM SUSPECT is apprehended ! 

9:34 PM Alert: Pursuit north of Bluffton near SR 235 one suspect at large . Contact 911 if you see anything to assist law enforcement.
