Soccer: Men tie, women lose

The Bluffton University men's soccer team went at it with Mount St. Joseph for 110 minutes, notching the first tie during Head Coach Robert Richardson's tenure at the helm. Host MSJ and Bluffton finished 2-2 under the lights in Cincinnati.

Bluffton stands 0-2-1 overall and in the conference, while the Mount is now 1-1-1 in the Heartland Conference.

Montez Archer named to the D3football.com Team of the Week

 Bluffton University freshman Montez Archer Jr. (Detroit, Mich./Martin Luther King) followed up his Heartland Conference Player of the Week by being named to the D3football.com Team of the Week.

Archer had a career day in just his second collegiate football game on Saturday. The starting cornerback was one of six players from the Heartland Conference to be honored nationally this week. He helped lead the Beavers to a 49-14 road thumping of Manchester University on Saturday, March 6, 2021.

Bluffton trustees welcomes new member

Approve sabbaticals for Martina Cucchiara, Walter Paquin, Andi Baumgartner

At their winter meeting, the Bluffton University Board of Trustees discussed current business, welcomed a new member and granted three sabbaticals for the 2021-22 academic year. 

Trustees heard reports on enrollment and retention, reviewed progress of strategic plan launching initiatives, and discussed new COVID-19 policies and protocols on campus.

Bethny Ricks, West Liberty, Ohio, recently joined the board as an at-large member.

University men's soccer and baseball seasons underway

Men’s soccer
The Bluffton University men's soccer team battled conference heavyweight Rose-Hulman on a chilly Saturday, March 6, at Salzman Stadium. Kelly Takezo found the back of the net at the 3:50 mark and the Engineers held off Bluffton for a 1-0 victory. The Engineers stayed perfect at 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the Heartland Conference, while Bluffton fell to 0-2 and 0-2 in the HCAC with its second straight 1-0 heartbreaker.

Bluffton enjoys 49-14 romp at Manchester

The Bluffton University football team opened up its Heartland Conference spring slate at Manchester on Saturday.

And, 35 points in the first half was the key to the Beavers' emphatic 49-14 victory over the Spartans. Bluffton improved to 2-0 (1-0 HCAC) on the season, while Manchester fell to 0-3.
