C. Henry Smith Peace Oratorical Contest April 7

Four Bluffton University students are scheduled to compete in the university's annual C. Henry Smith Peace Oratorical Contest, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, in Yoder Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Participating students give a speech of no more than 10 minutes that applies the Christian peace position to an issue of contemporary concern.

This year's presenters, and their speech titles, are:

Flutist wins first Mosiman young artist prize

Flutist Kristen Shelly, a Bluffton University senior from Penfield, N.Y., won the first Mosiman Young Artist Competition at Bluffton's recent Bach Festival.

A $100 cash prize accompanied the title for Shelly, a sociology major who was also the Audience Choice winner. She was one of three finalists chosen by faculty to perform at the concert that concluded the festival, hosted by the university's music department.

The other finalists were clarinetist Alycia Althaus, a senior from Findlay, and soprano Kristin Beckman, a sophomore from Ottawa.

Clothes fitting that description-if not their current owner's waist or taste-can find a new home through the free, annual clothing swap sponsored in April by Bluffton University's Fashion and Interiors Association (FIA).

The national conversation on immigration is stopped in its tracks by all the shouting and inflammatory rhetoric about the issue, Dr. M. Daniel Carroll Rodas told a Bluffton University audience March 19. But if people, particularly those of faith, start the conversation in a different place, the tone is different, too, he said.

Senior art show opens March 29

The Bluffton University Art Department will feature the original artwork of two senior students, Sara Richer and Donelle Parker, in an exhibition opening March 29.

Free and open to the public, the exhibit will be on display until April 11 with the exception of April 2-5, when it will be closed for Easter break. Hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. weekends in the Sauder Visual Arts Center's Grace Albrecht Gallery.

Tickets on sale April 1 for 'Little Women'

Tickets go on sale April 1 for Bluffton University's May Day weekend production of "Little Women," a musical adaptation of the Louisa May Alcott novel.

Dr. Melissa Friesen, associate professor and chair of theatre and communication at Bluffton, will direct the show, being staged May 6-8 as part of the university's annual May Day celebration.
