Regional hubs to promote broadband and 5G sector workforce strategy

The Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation has announced six regional hubs that will help expand the efforts of Ohio’s Broadband and 5G Sector Partnership locally.

“In today’s economy and workforce, all Ohioans need access to high-speed internet,” said Lt. Governor Husted. “Establishing these regional hubs will regionalize the work of our statewide Broadband and 5G Sector Partnership, empowering local communities to help build the broadband and 5G workforce Ohio needs.”

As part of the implementation of Ohio's Broadband and 5G Workforce Strategy, the regional hubs will be placed across JobsOhio's six-region map and will provide resources to local communities so they can create the talent pipeline needed for local businesses.

The following entities will constitute each regional hub:

Northwest​ – Regional Growth Partnership JobsOhio Region

  • University of Findlay​
  • Terra State Community College​
  • Greater Ohio Workforce Board, Inc.​
  • Great Lakes Community Action Partnership ​

Jacomet’s Martial Arts to hold ribbon cutting ceremony

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce has announced a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Jacomet’s Martial Arts at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 28. The event will take place at Jacomet’s Martial Arts dojo, 121 S. Main Street (lower level).

The business, which is owned by Tony Jacomet, runs its core program, Gen Yuan Kempo, September through May with multiple classes that group students by age and skill level–from ages as young as 5 through adults.

There is also an age 7-adult family/group evening class, offering busy families an alternative time slot, and an opportunity for parents to train alongside their children.

This year the program is expanding to offer teen/adult classes in Tai Chi, Jiu Jitsu and Yoga.

Classes offer detailed instruction with an emphasis on safe training and learning practical skills.

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the following winning tickets from the July Discovery Days "Bluffton Bucks" prize drawing and a redraw for June:

Prizes can be picked up at the Bluffton Public Library after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.  Prizes must be picked up before August 25, 2023.

Yochum Named VP/Head of Operations at CNB

Citizens National Bank (CNB) has named Amy Yochum as VP/Head of Operations. She replaces Janet Dukes who recently retired after 47 years with CNB. In this role, Amy is part of the bank’s strategic team and assists with establishing long-range goals while also overseeing the operational business units. Eric Faulkner, CNB President states, “Amy’s career path at CNB has been a natural progression into this leadership role. She understands the bank’s goals and I look forward to seeing her taking on this new challenge.”

Hancock Co. Safety Council talks about preventing suicide

The Findlay-Hancock County Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation will host Hancock County Safety Council, featuring a presentation titled “Preventing Suicide: A Topic for the Workplace” on Thursday, August 10 from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Findlay. The event costs $25 to attend and includes lunch. The event will feature main speaker Amber Wolfrom, Adult Prevention Specialist with Family Resource Center.

In this session, attendees will gain increased awareness of suicide statistics for Hancock County and Ohio, explore the risk factors related to suicide and provide local preventative programs and resources for local businesses.

About Amber Wolfrom
Amber Wolfrom has 25 years of experience providing and monitoring substance use prevention and mental health promotion efforts in Hancock County.  She has been an Ohio Certified Prevention Consultant since 2002 and is a trainer of several evidence-based prevention programs for adults.  Amber has spent her career in behavioral health championing evidence-based prevention strategies, assisting with Hancock County’s Recovery Oriented System of Care (ROSC) transformation, educating about trauma-informed care approaches and working with local businesses and employers to promote the message that prevention works, treatment is effective, and people do recover.

Kathi Amstutz named AVP/Branch Operations Coordinator for CNB

Citizens National Bank (CNB) has named Kathi Amstutz as AVP/Branch Operations Coordinator. She replaces Margaret Thompson who recently retired. In this role Kathi works with the offices and operations department to bridge communication and make workflows easier for the customers and employees. Amy Yochum, VP Operations, states, “The level of experience and knowledge of operations Kathi brought to the bank made it an easy transition. I’m excited to see how Kathi will increase efficiencies through her new role.”

Kathi has dedicated 25 years to the banking industry, beginning as a teller and taking on new roles through the years. “I believe this position is what I have been training for. I’ve had guidance and leadership from some amazing coworkers, supervisors and mentors and now I’m able to apply that to my role in training, making our employees more confident so they’re prepared to serve our customers.”

Kathi believes in community involvement and is currently the Treasurer for the Putnam County Cancer Assistance Program, Treasurer for the Pandora-Gilboa School Boosters, Secretary for the Challenged Champions Equestrian Center Board, President for the ADAMS Board of Putnam County, and a member of the Pandora-Gilboa School Board. She resides outside of Gilboa with her husband, Ryan, on their family farm. She has two children, Mikaylie and Brennen. She’s excited to be part of the Bluffton community and looks forward to enhancing the customer experience people expect from CNB.
