The 23rd annual Bluffton High School Occupational Work Education (OWE) silent auction is from noon to 6 p.m., Thursday, April 14, at Bluffton McDonald's, according to Pat Pritchard, OWE teacher.

The event has over 70 biddable items that benefit the OWE program and The Ronald McDonald House.

Since the auction's inception, over $21,000 has been donated by the auctions to the Ronald McDonald House. In addition Bluffton High School OWE students have purchased $5,700 in classroom equipment from the auction.

A new set of features are making their way onto The Bluffton Icon, including easy access to the latest news, Facebook commenting and more.

The first feature is a set of tabbed content available at the bottom of the home page. The latest stories for each of the categories are available by clicking the respective tab.

For example, clicking on Council will give you the latest Bluffton Council and School Board news, and so on. A convenient "more" link allows you to view all the stories in that category.

April bargains of the month are now on sale at Family True Value Hardware, 109 N. Main St.

According to Jeff Kantner, store owner, bargains of the month include special prices for weed and feed law fertilizer, 2-gallon reliever sprayer and compact fluorescent blubs.

The Internal Revenue Service reminded taxpayers that they have two weeks remaining until the April 18 filing deadline and that they can use IRS Free File to do their taxes or file an extension.

As of March 25, the IRS has received more than 82 million individual income tax returns, which is 58 percent of the 141 million returns expected this year. The IRS has received about the same number of returns so far this year as it did at this time last year, while processing of returns is up 3 percent from the same time last year.

Panache, Bluffton's newest business, opened on March 23. The store offers florals and interiors, according to owner Renee Smith. Located at 415 N. Main St., Panache is in the former storefront of Boehr Print.

"You'll find several things in Panache," says Smith.

The store is a full-service florist, offering fresh flowers and silks, blooming plants, floral and interiors with flowers for weddings, parties, proms and funeral. Panache can send flowers anywhere locally and across the United States.

Arby's of Bluffton has a special deal for Icon viewers this month. Arby's is offering two regular roast beef sandwiches and/or regular beef n' cheddar sandwiches for only $3.

The offer, called Bluffton Arby's Mix and Match, is good through April 30, and a printer-friendly coupon on The Icon is available to print and take to Arby's to receive the offer.
