Block party on Vine Street hosted by Greenhorn and friends; additional photos below

Planning outdoor events is a tricky business. This past weekend many area events were cancelled due to rain or thunderstorms. The Vine Street Block Party on August 20 managed to go on with only an hour delay and a few sprinkles.

There were activities for all ages with a house music soundtrack provided by two DJs--John Humphrey and renowned Detroit artist Stacey "Hotwaxx" Hale.

Jacomet's Martial Arts studio is holding an Open House on Saturday, August 27 from 1:00-3:00 p.m.

You can see the facility, meet instructors and classmates, and learn more about their program.

The studio is located at 121 S Main St, Bluffton, the front basement entrance next to the Shannon Theatre.

 

Suter's Produce has announced that sweetcorn season and the sight of little red barns is almost over in Bluffton and nearby communities:

BLUFFTON (next to Springfield Fireworks) - last day Tuesday, August 23

LIMA (Bellefontaine Ave.) - last day Monday, August 22

WAPAKONETA - last day Saturday, August 20

Bluffton Dari Freeze has announced that September 17 will be the last day of the season at the 595 S. Main St. shop.

 

Greenhorn owner Jonah Agner remembers dancing in the streets in downtown Bluffton, decades ago. With the short one-way stretch of Vine Street immediately next to his restaurant's patio service at 112 Vine, he decided to throw a block party for local families and university students on Saturday, August 20.

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce has issued this reminder for the first of three Discovery Days highlighting businesses in Bluffton.

The West Central Ohio Land Conservancy (WCOLC) invites the public to attend an event celebrating the farm community with a program highlighting farmland.

The speaker for the evening will be radio and TV personality, Dan Wilson. The host of “In Ohio Country Today,” Wilson is an advocate for farmland preservation and is dedicated to preserving Ohio country.
