On Friday and Saturday, November 5 and 6, fifteen downtown Bluffton businesses are hosting a Christmas Open House event. This traditional Bluffton event kicks off the Christmas shopping season with specials and products that are perfect for gift giving.
Hours vary by shop. Fresh Modern Fabric, an online shop located at 103 1/2 Vine St., will be open from 10 am. to 3 p.m. on Friday.
For more information, visit Bluffton Downtown Merchants on Facebook.
From the opening scene of “Failure: A Love Story,” the audience learns the three main characters all die. However, Bluffton University’s fall play--about three sisters and the man who falls in love with each one--has plenty of wit as well.
“I wasn’t ready for a complete comedy. I wanted a play that could tap into feelings of loss, considering everything that has happened in the last couple of years,” said Dr. Melissa Friesen, professor of theatre and director of the show. “There is a lot of humor in this play, but there is also a healthy balance of dramatic moments.”
At 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 7, Alloway Environmental Testing CEO John Hoffman will present a program on his first-hand experience of Water for People, a project that helps provide clean drinking water in underdeveloped countries like Malawi.
The program will take place in St. John’s United Church of Christ, 223 W. College Avenue. Coffee and dessert will be served. Social distancing will be observed and masks are required. Please register at blufftonstjohns.com/events.
On Friday, October 29, St. John's United Church of Christ, 223 W College Ave., is having a drive-thru spaghetti dinner from 4:30-6:30 p.m. (or until food runs out).
The church will accept free-will donations with proceeds to be used for outreach projects.
Patrons should enter the drive-thru area from Jackson St parking lot entrance (the church is located at the corner of Jackson and College).
Veterans living in the Pandora-Gilboa School District are invited to the Annual Veterans’ Day Banquet at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 11 at Pandora United Methodist Church, 108 E. Washington St.
The dinner and short program are sponsored by the Pandora United Methodist Rebecca Circle.
