First National Financial Services and First National Bank will host an antique appraisal event, Thursday, April 27, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hancock Historical Museum, 422 W. Sandusky St., Findlay.
The event will feature appraiser Richard E. Stegman who has more than 30 years of experience with antiques, including owner of several antique shops, and was a student of Harry Rinker’s The Institute for the Study of Antiques and Collectibles.
The Bluffton Middle School will host its annual Night at the Museum on Monday, May 1, from 6-7 p.m., in the cafetorium. All are welcome to attend.
Sixth grade students have chosen a country to display and show its culture. Seventh grade students have chosen a famous person to display and share why that person is famously remembered. Eighth grade students have chosen a career of their interest to research and display.
Transition Bluffton hosts a river walk along the Little Riley on Sunday, April 23. Naturalist Anne Coburn-Griffis will lead the walk exploring plant and animal life in the Motter Metro Park just outside of Bluffton.
The walk will start at 6 p.m. and last 1-1.5 hours. Walkers will explore park trails and be introduced to creatures that make their home in and along the Little Riley. Participants will need good walking shoes and should bring binoculars and magnifying lenses.
The Hancock Park District (HPD) is facilitating a series of self-guided float trips with HPD Shuttle Service this spring that cover approximately 37.6 miles of the Blanchard River from Blanchard River Nature Preserve to Blanchard Landing. Cost is $20 per person, per trip, and preregistration is necessary.
Pleasant View United Methodist Church, between Pandora and Bluffton, will host a soup benefit on Sunday, April 23, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The benefit will include numerous soups, breads and desserts. Individual servings of soup will be available for carry-out.
The benefit is for medical expenses for a student in Cory-Rawson elementary school who has Langerhans Cell Histiocytic (LCH), a disorder that causes the body too accumulate too many immature Langerhans cells that build up in certain parts of the body where they can form tumors or damage organs.
Beaverdam Church of Christ will hold a chicken and rib dinner from 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday, May 13, at the church, 308 Main St., Beaverdam.
Tickets are $8 for a half chicken dinner and $11 for a rib dinner. Each meal includes baked potato, green beans, roll and butter. Desserts are available for $1 each and pop/coffee for 50 cents.
