Book fair at MS Nov. 19-23

It's book book fair at the Bluffton Middle School. The Scholastic Book Fair is open Friday, Nov. 19 and Monday, Nov. 22 during school hours. Monday evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

According to Cheryl Morris, there will be posters, computer software, school supplies and, of course, lots of books available.

Tree of remembrance memorial service Dec. 5

Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services will hold a tree of remembrance memorial service on Sunday, Dec. 5, at The Centre, 601 N. Main St., Bluffton, according to Gordon Diller.The service is a special event we provide for all the families we have served throughout the year, according to Diller.

Wrights perform at town hall Nov. 14

Bluegrass music will be on the town hall concert series from4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 14, according toWendy Chappell-Dick.

"All ages are invited to a gathering of some of the best pickers in the region playing bluegrass and old time standards. Bring your instrument and play along," she said.

Music in the Rafters has been a home town tradition for years at Mike and Opie Wright's house on Elm Street.

Spaghetti dinner Nov. 12 at First Mennonite

The Bluffton University Nutrition Association's annual spaghetti dinner is from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 12, at First Mennonite Church.

The event benefits the Lima-based Churches United Food Pantries (CUP). In addition to spaghetti, the menu includes salad, baguette, dessert and refreshments. For more information contact Alisha Byrne at [email protected].

Library launches the season with wreath fest'

Area businesses and organizations are invited to decorate wreaths for Bluffton Public Library's annual Holiday Wreath Festival. Wreaths may be delivered to the library beginning Monday, Nov. 29, and should be picked up between Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, and Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011.

"This is not only a great way to take part in the holiday spirit, but also an inexpensive way to advertise your organization to people who visit the library to view the wreaths," said library staff member Leslie Liberato. Guidelines for decorating the wreaths are available at the library.

"The Oz Monologues" take the stage next week

"The Oz Monologues," or, what really happened when Dorothy landed in Oz, comes to the Bluffton middle school cafetorium stage next week. This series of skits, monologues and music will delight audiences of all ages. The performances are put on by the Bluffton High School Drama Club.

Performances are Friday and Saturday, Nov. 12-13, at 7:30 p.m. in the cafetorium. General admission tickets are available at the door. Adults admission is $3; students, $1. Kevin Gratz directs the production.
