Beaverdam-Richland Fire-EMS chicken BBQ/rib dinner Saturday

The Beaverdam-Richland Township Fire and EMS Departments will hold its annual chicken barbecue/rib dinner at 4 p.m., Saturday, March 22, at the fire station in Beaverdam.

Tickets are pre-sale and are available from any member. The chicken dinners are $7 each and rib dinners $10 each.

Meals are available for drive-thru carryout or eat in the station.

Music, music, music

Bluffton eighth grader, Georgia Owen, celloist, focuses on the music. Many Bluffton junior high musicians will be in Elida on Saturday where they will compete in the junior high solo and ensemble contest. Georgia will be one of the musicians. She performs with the junior high orchestra.

Book signing Saturday at Book ReViews for Ruth Naylor's book

Ruth Naylor, Bluffton author and poet, will hold a book signing and reading at Book ReViews from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 22.

In her book, "A Family Affair," she gathered together a collection of her poems that traverse the rough terrain of family life, pain of loss, the difficult beauty of human love.

She writes, “I do not know understand / How love can dwell so close to hurt.” A reader shared, “Your self-disclosure somehow puts my own life in perspective.  Your struggles move me to a quicker understanding, deeper contentment, and brighter hope.”

Perry Bush on ONU panel discussion on "The Crisis in Ukraine"

The Ohio Northern University Center for Democratic Governance and Rule of Law presents a panel discussion on “The Crisis in Ukraine: What is Happening and What Does it Mean?” in the Celebrezze Moot Court Room on Tuesday, March 25, at 7 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public.

Spring hours are:
• Mondays to Thursdays 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Fridays and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
• Sundays noon to 9 p.m.

Lenten series continues at Trinity Lutheran

The fourth Lenten service in the 2014 series “From Garden to Glory” will be held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jenera, on Wednesday, March 26 at 7 p.m.  Pastor Jeff Bolwerk will speak on “The Garden of Paradise” based on Revelation 22:1-6 and the Choir will sing  “Lenten Carol.”

A light supper will be served from 5:30-6:30 p.m. by the Sunday Morning Bible Class. Everyone is welcome and the church is handicapped accessible. Please visit: tlcjenera.org for additional information.
