Fantastic fall weekend planned for Oct 25-26

Discovery Days, Bluffton Farmers Market and Bluffton Cars & Coffee make for a busy fall weekend in Bluffton. The outdoor events are wrapping up their seasons for 2024. Businesses distributing tickets for Discovery Days prize drawings are Bike Crazy LLC, Black Lab Trading Co., Book Reviews, Dough Hook Meat Market, Et Cetera Thrift Shop, Family Hardware, Langen Family Finds and Masterpiece Signs & Graphics.

3 Pirates make volleyball district squad

BLUFFTON – Three Bluffton Pirate volleyball seniors received all-district recognition recently by the area coaches.

Pirate volleyball edged by O-G in 5-set district epic

MILLER CITY – The Bluffton High School volleyball team lost a five-set thriller to Ottawa-Glandorf in Northwest 2 Div. V district final tournament play on Thursday, October 24, at Miller City to end their strong season in heartbreaking fashion.

The top-seeded Pirates won two of the first three sets to seize the lead, but were not quite able to close O-G out.

The Titan girls rallied to win 23-25, 25-23, 12-25, 25-22, 15-10 and snap Bluffton’s seven-match win streak.

The loss ended the Pirate season with a fine record of 20-4.

Second-seeded Ottawa-Glandorf improved to 18-7 after the comeback to win their first district crown since 2020. The Western Buckeye League champs went 9-0 in league play, but only 9-7 in non-league action. ▶︎

Pirate girls soccer falls to Columbus Grove in district final

BLUFFTON __ The Bluffton High School girls soccer team lost 4-2 to Northwest Conference rival Columbus Grove on a pair of late goals in Div. V district final action at Steinmetz Field on Thursday, October 24.

The Road Not Taken: Do OTC supplements help lower cholesterol?

Robert Frost’s 20-line narrative poem The Road Not Taken was published in the August 1915 issue of Atlantic Monthly. He released a collection of his poetry in 1916 titled Mountain Interval. In the poem, there are two equal paths covered in leaves and one must decide their path.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has two paths for approving an over the counter (OTC) supplement. Is there a difference? ▶︎

Manford ‘Manny’ E. Robinson, Jr. was an entrepreneur

Manford ‘Manny’ E. Robinson, Jr., 96, of Granger, IN and formerly of Bluffton, Ohio passed away on October 19, 2024 at Village of Arbor Wood in Granger. He was born in Marshall, IL to the late Manford E. and Sadie Jane (Darkis) Robinson. He attended school at Terre Haute, Indiana. Went from Terre Haute, Indiana to South Bend, Indiana. In Jan. 1949 he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He married Alice Hittle on October 2, 1949.
