Claude Boyer, retired Grace Mennonite pastor, was a volunteer at Ten Thousand Villages

Claude F. Boyer, 84, of Bluffton died at 5:50 a.m., Dec. 17, 2013, at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. He was born Aug. 2, 1929, in Quakertown, Pa., to the late Marcus and Reda Meck Boyer. On June 29, 1952, he married Mary Maust and she survives.

Boyoer was a retired Mennonite minister. He served at Deep Run Mennonite Church, Bedminster, Pa., First Mennonite Church, Sugarcreek, First Mennonite Church, Reedley, Calif., and Grace Mennonite Church, Pandora.

Lois Baxter was retired Columbus Grove teacher

M. Lois Baxter, 87, died Dec. 17, 2013 at St. Rita's Ambulatory Care Center, Glandorf. She was born June 26, 1926 in McCutchenville, Ohio, to the late Roy Calvin and May (Powell) Simpson. On June 20, 1948, she married James D. Baxter and he survives.

Lois retired in 1985 from teaching physical education and English at Columbus Grove High School. She had also taught at Morenci Public Schools, Morenci, Mich., and Anthony Wayne Local Schools, Whitehouse, Ohio.

Claude F. Boyer, 84, of Bluffton died at 5:50 a.m. Dec. 17, 2013 at the Mennonite Memorial Home. Bluffton.

Harold Bruhn 1924-2013

Harold B. Bruhn, Indianapolis, Ind., died Monday, Dec. 9, 2013.

Mr. Bruhn of Indianapolis, Ind., and formerly of Dayton, was born Oct. 17, 1924, in Kiel, Germany. He was preceded in death by his parents Christian and Hertha Bruhn, brother, Arnold Bruhn, and grandson, Janson Bruhn.

Evelyn Steiner was retired after teaching 29 years in Bluffton school system

Evelyn M. Steiner, 93, died Dec. 7, 2013, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. She was born Oct. 13, 1920 in Kingsport, Tenn., to the late Kinder and Elsie (Johnson) Mitchell. On Nov. 1, 1941, she married Charles H. Steiner and he died July 2, 1994.

She retired from teaching after 29 years in the Bluffton and Beaverdam School systems.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Bluffton, where she was very active in the United Methodist Women, a lay leader, choir member, Methodist Conference. She was also a member of Alpha Gamma and Bluffton College Phi Beta Kappa.
