Next Bluffton blood drive on June 24

Bluffton Hospital, 139 Garau Street, will host an American Red Cross Blood Mobile Tuesday, June 24 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Garau Street parking lot.

A carnival's coming to town - tonight at BFR

Start the summer by attending a carnival-style event hosted by BFR Sports & Fitness on Monday, June 2, from 6-8 p.m.

Activities for families with young children will include face painting, Minute-to-Win-It challenges, Twister, three-legged race, sack race, wheelbarrow race and two special triathalon events for youth. Parachute activities will be included at the end of event. Parents and children can “get active” together at this event. Tickets (50 cents each) will be required to participate in the races and contests.

Bluffton's Bambi

The Icon spotted Bluffton's Bambi, a new-born fawn and perhaps Bluffton's newest birth, over the weekend. We'll keep the location a secret, but will share with viewers that Bambi is safe with its mother. We welcome Icon viewers' sightings of Bambi and we'll keep the location confidential.

Resignation of Dennis Gallant, Bluffton mayor, anticipated in tonight's council session

The Icon anticipates the resignation of Dennis Gallant, Bluffton mayor, during tonight's (June 2) council meeting. Watch the Icon tonight for how the mayoral succession and selection process for a potential vacant council seat takes place.

Edna Dalke funeral service in Kansas June 7; burial in Bluffton

Edna Dalke, 93, died on May 20, 2014, at Pleasant View Home of Inman, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Marilyn Dalke Busenitz, one son, Warren Dalke, and one 6 year old great-grandson, Bradley Dalke.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Dan U. Dalke; daughters Cheryl Epp of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Arline Clark of Dayton; Vonda McEachern of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 2 sons, Dale Dalke of Vancouver, Wash.; Verle Dalke of Dallas, Ore.; 24 Grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.
