BHS musical involved lots of student behind-the-scene work

Bluffton High School’s musical "Alice in Wonderland" was presented on the middle school stage on April 12-14. This story written by Morgan Schroeder in a Bluffton High School art class, instructed by Vickie Garmon, tells about some of the behind-the-scene work.

The story states: The musical takes a lot of preparing, but it’s not all about memorizing lines. There’s much more that goes along with it, like preparing for the sets."

Tis the season. The tree trimmers are out and about in Bluffton as the weather turns warmer. This unit was on West Elm Street on Thursday.

Jim King named senior pastor at Ebenezer Mennonite Church

Ebenezer Mennonite Church has announced a pastoral change this month. Bluffton native, Jim King, co-pastor of the congregation, was named senior pastor. Dick Potter, also co-pastor, is now the assistant pastor part-time as he has entered semi-retirement.

Prior to his pastoral duties at Ebenezer Mennonite, King served for 34 years as director of Bluffton-Pandora Youth for Christ. He became co-pastor in September 2008.

Bluffton photographer Leland Gerber took this photo from the rooftop of his photo studio. it is now part of the Citizens National Bank . The only house on the east side of Main that still stands is the brick house on the far left. The other houses are now Chase and the Bluffton Public Library.

Shannon Theatre features three movies April 19-25

Three different movies are featured from Apirl 19 to 25 at the Shannon Theatre, according to Pete Suter.

Show times are every evening at 7 p.m. only.

• G.I. JOE (PG-13)
Show times are every evening at 9:30 p.m. only.

• THE CROODS (PG)
Show times are on Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 and 4 p.m. only (All shows are in 2D).

-Police assisted the Highway Patrol with a vehicle pursuit that was SB on I-75.  

March 4
-Police responded to a Breaking and Entering complaint at a Thurman St. residence.

March 5
-A S. Main St. resident reported that her live in boyfriend was making threats toward her and had assaulted her in the past.
