Can you imagine being six years old and traveling from Burkina Faso in West Africa to northwest Ohio? The distance is over  8,000 miles and travel time is 30 hours. For Francois, the journey is a momentous one for additional reasons. When the Icon met Francois at NWO Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Bluffton he was receiving therapy with Rachel Diller, PT, DPT, and was wearing new braces for clubfoot. In a prior year, he had surgery at the Orthopedic Institute of Ohio for the condition.

2023 Memorial Day celebrations in Bluffton took place on a day of vivid blue skies and steady breezes, punctuated by the military sounds of a jet flyover and rifle salute. A native of Bluffton and 1970 graduate of Bluffton High School, retired Colonel Larry Ruggley returned to the village to provide the Memorial Day address.

Ninety Seniors crossed the stage in the Bluffton High School gymnasium this past Saturday and were awarded their diplomas in ceremonies both solemn and joyous. School and district representatives served in their official capacities, while students provided commentary on the momentous occasion.

The evening began with a darkened room and a music video displaying a pair of photos for each student: one as baby or toddler followed by a current photo of the graduate. A montage of activities was next, showing the Class of 2023 over the past 13 years.
