Here I sit in the Peruvian jungle drenched from the seasonal rains that has even curled my passport. We just completed our annual VOSH-Ohio mission into Iquitos, Peru, a land-locked city in the jungle.
We predict they'll be snatched up in 15 minutes on less.
The Easter Bunny and some of the McDonald's Restaurant characters will visit youth at this year's community Easter egg hunt.
The egg hunt is at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 16, at Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St.
Children ages 8 and under are welcome to come, hunt for hidden eggs, register for prizes, gift baskets and have their pictures taken with the McDonald's characters.
An Ohio Northern University team of engineering students advised by Bluffton resident J.D. Yode, have created three robotic football players to compete in the third annual University of Notre Dame robotic football competition on April 15.
As part of their senior capstone project during the 2010-11 academic year, a team of ONU students manufactured robotic players (a quarterback, a center and a wide receiver), with funding from the University of Notre Dame.
Jane Sycks, Bluffton High School junior, is the March BHS student of the month.
Jane is active in drama club, BHS jazz band, pep band, show choir, chamber choir, concert choir, marching and concert band. She is also a member of the Bluffton High School National Honor Society. She is also in the Bluffton Presbyterian Church youth group and church choir.
Jane is the daughter of Dave and Linda Sycks, 10050 Rockport Road. She hopes to pursue music as a career.
Pat Diller is the Mennonite Memorial Home employee of the month.
She is a dietary aide and has worked at Mennonite Memorial Home since 1997.
She knows each one in the dining room as if they are "family" and knows many of the resident's favorite dishes. She is very generous to offer second helpings and is very accommodating when it comes to acknowledging any special requests or dietary preferences.
Jerry and Lori Lewis, of Jerry Lewis McDonald's Restaurant, were named Bluffton Lions Club citizen of the year for 2010 on March 29.
The couple join a long list of Bluffton residents recognized over the years by the Bluffton Lions Club. This was the 30th year for the award to be presented.
Jerry and Lori Lewis have assisted countless programs in the Bluffton community. These include athletics, the arts, churches, education and individual families.
