Karl Best was Saturday's winner in the Bluffton Public Library's chili cookoff. The event featured seven different chili soups and the judges picked Best's as the grand prize winner.

"What if Bluffton doesn't exist? What if it's some person that kidnaps people?"
These thoughts, among other fears, went through Sandra Vimbiso's head while coming to Bluffton University from Zimbabwe two years ago. Vimbiso is a sophomore at the university and majors in pre-med and biology.
Tim Berta, survivor of the Bluffton University baseball bus accident in 2007, recently landed a job as assistant baseball coach of Lourdes College, Sylvania, Ohio. The college is launching a baseball team for the first time and will play its inaugural season in 2012. This story is about Berta's joining the school as a coach.
Pavel Shekochikhin, Bluffton, and a student at Apollo Career Center, proved his skills in welding recently. He won second place in the Skills USA Welding competition. He advances to state competition. Shekochikhin is a senior in the Apollo Career Center welding program.
Royal couples and very, very congenial people reside in Bluffton. In case you aren't aware, this year's King and Queen of Maple Crest's Senior Village Valentine's Day celebration are, Arthur and Jo Ann Hilty. Named Ms. Congeniality is Anne Buller. The Valentine's Day party is an annual event at Maple Crest.
On Monday, Feb. 14, Maple Crest Senior Living Village, in Bluffton, hosted ITS annual Valentine's Day Party. Sixty residents attended and were treated to an evening of music, food and fellowship.
