Barbara Fleming Scholarship available from MMH

The Mennonite Memorial Home Fund has available a scholarship to persons interested in entering the field of nursing or advancing their degree in nursing.

This scholarship was set up in memory of Barbara Fleming, a dedicated nurse, by her family. The Barbara Fleming Scholarship is a minimum of $500 to be paid to the vocational school or college where the student is enrolled.

Bluffton Boy Scouts only troop in district to earn Year of Celebration badge

Court of Honor

Bluffton Boy Scout Troop 256 held their Court of Honor on Feb. 5 at the First Mennonite Church. The event is held to recognize Scout rank advancements, and both merit badges and other badges earned since the last Court of Honor, which was held Labor Day 2010.

During the past six months, 15 Scouts earned rank advancements. The advancements ranged from brand new Scouts earning their Scout rank, to several older Scouts achieving their Eagle rank. Eagle is the highest rank possible within the Boy Scouts of America.

We should have listened to Tom and Anne Downey: Super Bowl contest winners

We should have listened to Tom and Anne Downey. Of the 92 entries in the Bluffton Icon super bowl contest, they predicted it correctly.

Entering separately, they were the only contestants to:

  • Pick Green Bay to win
  • Green Bay to score first (1st tie-breaker)
  • Green Bay to lead at halftime, and (2nd tie-breaker)
  • Green Bay to have the post penalties (3rd tie-breaker)

The winner of the contest came down to the third tie-breaker as Green Bay had 7 penalties for 67 yards; Pittsburgh had 6 for 55 yards.

Elyse Terry named to Hesston College honor roll

Freshman Elyse Terry has been named to the Hesston College (Kansas) fall semester honor roll. She has maintained a grade point average of between 3.50 to 3.89.

Elyse is a 2010 Bluffton High School graduate and is the daughter of Peter Terry and Lucia Unrau, Bluffton.

Over 20 Rhythm In Motion Dance Center dancers perform at ONU

Rhythm In Motion Dance Centre' had over 20 dancers participate in the ONU 2011 Dance Clinic with the ONU Dance Team on Saturday, Jan. 29.

There were 71 dancers total who danced to a medley of Justin Bieber and created a "Bieber Fever" Dance craze. Dancers range in ages 5-18, from Bath, Ada, Bluffton, Kenton, Hardin Northern, Ridgemont and Bellefontaine.

The girls took class from ONU students and dancers from 12:30-2:20, putting the final product together at the 4 p.m. ONU men's basketball game against John Carroll.
