Earlier this week, the Icon provided a preview of items on the Bluffton Exempted Village School board of eduction agenda for its March 20 meeting. All items requiring board approval, including financial transactions, minutes of the prior meeting and contracts, were passed with unanimous support.
Here we’ll report on some of the discussions not previewed on the meeting’s agenda:
On Monday, March 20, the Bluffton Exempted Village Schools will hold a regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Media Center of the Elementary School. The agenda includes establishing a fund for the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) K-12 Safety Grant in the amount of $300K, resignations and contracts including the resignation of Jodi Brauen and the hiring of Courtnee Morris as Technology Coordinator.
At the March 13 regular meeting of the Bluffton council, Mayor RIch Johnson's first order of business was to call upon Police Chief Ryan Burkholder. The chief announced that the department's Citizen of the Year for 2022 was Chad Cupples, who has done extensive advocacy following last year's on-duty death of Officer Dominic Francis. Cupples' work was instrumental in pushing forward memorials for Francis on Interstate 75 and in town. He was present to accept the award and received a round of applause.
