Marlin Gerber taking blueberry orders

Marlin Gerber will have 10 pound boxes of Michigan blueberries available in Bluffton on Monday, July 15,  at 12:30 p.m.

Gerber said that there are about six rounding quarts of berries in 10 pounds and the cost is $25.  Orders of four or more boxes cost $23 each.

E-mail orders at [email protected] with a subject line: "Bluffton Blueberries."  Orders may be picked up in the parking area behind Bluffton University’s Houshower House between 12:30 and 2 p.m. on July 15.

BFR offers Adventure Camps and Super Hero Boys' Day

Children ages 4, 5 and 6 are welcome to participate in four additional BFR Sports and Fitness Adventure Camp dates this summer, according to Carole Enneking, BFR director. 

Adventure Camp is a 1 ½ hour program held on selected Thursdays that includes crafts, physical activities and games, plus snack. Pre-registration is required for each date. Contact BFR by Tuesday prior to the camp date.

Adventure Camp runs from 9-10:30 a.m. on July 18 (Pajama Party) and Aug. 1 (Disney). Cost for each day is $12 ($8 BFR).

Schumacher reunion - one of the oldest in the community - set for Aug. 4

Area you a Schumacher? The  2013 Schumacher family reunion, which includes the descendants of Christian and Barbara Schumacher, takes place on Sunday, Aug. 4. 

The family reunion is held at the Swiss Homestead, 8350 Bixel Road, Bluffton, from 1 to 5 p.m. on Aug. 4. It is could be the largest family reunion in the Bluffton-Pandora community, and represents one of the oldest families who settled here. It is also one of the oldest family  reunions that takes place here.

46 degree difference in June's minimum and maximum temperature

March has that whole lamb and lion thing going.  What do we get when June temperatures vary by 46 degrees in the month?

According to Pandora weather observer Guy Verhoff, the high temperature for June was 91 degrees (F) on June 25.  The low temperature was 45 degrees on June 4.

June saw precipitation totals of 3.52 inches of rain.  This is slightly below the June normal average of 4.16 inches.

Swiss heritage celebrated on Sunday

Swiss Day, an event planned by the Swiss Community Historical Society, includes a potluck and program on Sunday, June 30, at Ebenezer Mennonite Church.

The potluck is at 1 p.m. Persons attending are invited to bring ready-to-eat food and their own table service.

Book Reviews, 123 S. Main St., now through the end of July offers an exhibit of the creativity of Cherry, a 2006 Bluffton High School graduate.

“I began creating art with used books about three years ago,” she said. “I was fascinated by all that I could create with a book.”

“Every wall, nook, corner, shelf and cranny was filled with my creations. At the time was I was resident assistant in college and had many girls hanging out in my room.
