School calendar available to print

The Icon has a printer-friendly Bluffton School District calendar for the 2010-11 school year available. Click here to obtain it. You may also go to The Icon "Forms" page to view it. On the "Forms" page you will find several other back-to-school pieces to download. The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 30.

Emmanuel UCC host to Thursday community meal

The Bluffton Area Ministerial Association community meals continue in August at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center. The next meal is Thursday, Aug. 19, catered by Emmanuel United Church of Christ.The meals are free and open to the public and begin at 6 p.m. Donations are accepted. Those donations support the Bluffton Food Pantry.

Bluffton University offers great education at great price: U.S. News & World Report

Bluffton University offers "a great education at a great price among regional colleges" in the Midwest, according to U.S. News & World Report.

The 2011 edition of the magazine's Best Colleges guidebook ranks Bluffton in the top 10 of the "Great Schools, Great Prices" category, and in the top tier-placing 20th among 95 institutions-of the "Best Regional Colleges" listing.

Time for some ice cream

Josiah Bergstrand, one-year-old son of Sarah and Benji Bergstrand, seems to be enjoying his plastic fork (or is it a spoon). The Icon captured this pose during the Music on the Lawn Sunday evening at the Mennonite Memorial Home. You may also check out the Bergstrands when you watch The Icon You Tube video of the event.
