William T. Ellerbrock SIDS Foundation event on Aug. 11

The 5th annual William T. Ellerbrock SIDS Foundation golf outing takes place Friday, Aug. 11, at Sycamore Springs Golf Course, 11492 Township Road, Arlington, according to Matt and Crystal Ellerbrock.

Early bird registration before July 14 is $240 per team of four. Participants will receive a complimentary Bun in the Oven Package. The package includes four mulligans, four drink tickets and 20 door prize tickets, a $40 value.
Bluffton was well represented at the NWC/WBL all-star football game this past Friday night by Jason Bracy (2) starting corner back and Colin Phillips (58) starting center.

Phillips did a good job at pass blocking and run blocking.
Bracy contributed several tackles and was able to intercept the ball at the 2-yard -line stopping a scoring drive in the first half and also blocked the game winning pass for the other team with 45 seconds left on the clock ensuring the NWC team would win 24 to 21.
Ayersville replaces Ft. Loramie on football schedule

Ayersville joins the 2017 Bluffton High School varsity football schedule, according to Alex Hanna, BHS athletic director.
Bluffton will travel to the Pilots stadium for a non-conference game on Friday, Sept. 8, which is the third game of the season.
Ayersville replaces Ft. Loramie on the schedule.
For the first time in decades Bluffton’s first three football opponents are non-league teams. BHS opens with Cory-Rawson, then Van Buren (both at home), and the Ayersville on the road.
Following that the Pirates play a seven-game Northwest Conference schedule.
Last three to four years interest in swimming as a sports has exploded

The 2017 Bluffton Sardines are swimming off to a great start. And there are a lot of them, 150 to be exact. This is an increase from last year’s team of 138.
“In the last three to four years the interest in swimming as a sport in Bluffton has just exploded,” said Jennie Wilson, president of the Bluffton Sardines swim club. “The Western Ohio Aquatics League (WOAL) is fun and competitive and allows for swimmers of all skill levels to participate.”
Competitive Balance data included in basketball for the first time

New divisional assignments for the 2017-18 winter sports of basketball and wrestling were released Thursday by the Ohio High School Athletic Association. For the first time, Competitive Balance roster data was used in determining divisional assignments in basketball, which is the only OHSAA winter sport affected by the Competitive Balance regulation that OHSAA member schools adopted by referendum vote in 2014.
